Data sources

  • NOAA Buoy 44020 (NDBC)

    Real-time wind, gust, wave height, and wave period readings from Nantucket Sound. Operated by NOAA's National Data Buoy Center.

  • Open-Meteo

    Free, open-access weather + marine forecast API. Source for 7-day wind/wave forecasts. Free for non-commercial use under CC BY 4.0.

  • Steamship Authority

    Public alerts page and performance reports. Used as the canonical source of historical SSA cancellation labels.

  • Hy-Line Cruises

    Public service alerts, syndicated via Flockler. Used for Hy-Line cancellation labels from mid-2023 onward.

  • OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap

    Base map for Vessel Tracking: OpenFreeMap's Positron style, built from OpenMapTiles and OpenStreetMap data.

  • ACK Schedules API

    Public schedule endpoint listing Hy-Line published departures. Used for next-departure tracking and historical schedule reconstruction.

    Original artwork commissioned for FerryForecast. Used in the site favicon, social preview image, and various decorative surfaces.
